soloist!

Tradition tells us that you have to be part of a pair. In those times, it might be necessary for survival, but not now. In this modern society, singles must often update themselves that being single is as valuable a choice of being attached or married.

Singles are more often viewed as a sign of independence rather than a mark of shame nowadays. Many singles put their priority on their job. When one has the full freedom, he or she can put in their focus entirely on what they want to accomplish. The fruitful reward that one receives in the end allows him to feel self worthy and autonomy. He will feel good about himself that he had engaged in something important. Satisfying work provides a sense that you have achieved in something worthwhile. Ellen McGrath, President clinical psychologist of Bridge Coaching Institude in New York, said that “ The reality today is that being single is manageable and brings freedom. It could be the better choice.”

“ By staying single, you may be more likely to develop into your best self”, said DePaulo, the author of a book entitled, Singled Out: How Singles Are Stereotyped, Stigmatized, and Ignored and Still Live Happily Ever After. He added, "I feel very emotionally empowered by pursuing what is meaningful to me, even if it is risky. When you are single, you have more opportunities to do what seems right to you without looking to another person for approval."

From work, these singles tend to connect to social networks, people of similar educational background and often, values and interests. They can have a sense of purpose and a place to be. Work and a social circle give them the drive to get out of bed early in the morning and look forward to a rewarding day. Needless to say, they will have more time for themselves, or in other words, engage in self-improvement activities like cook, do laundry or to even tidy up your nest. Being skilled at many things makes you a more complete, well-rounded person. This could be a benefit when singles enter into the dating market!

If you have ever been in a serious relationship, sooner or later, you could discover that a good chunk of your budget goes into “steady-maintenance” costs. On the flip side, bachelorhood allows you to have financial freedom, not getting involved in paying for dinners or buying gifts. However, this does not mean that singles will save money. They could lavish themselves with clothings, food or even spend on night parties and drinks. But at least, they are the master of every single dollar they spend!

Staying out of the dating market can make oneself be their own boss. Relationships normally come with sacrifices, like missing out a football match or foregoing dates with friends and families. Singles get to spend their time more for themselves instead of for others, feel free to do anything they want without needing to answer for it. They can use their free times to build up relationships with families and friends.

To round up, being single lets us to discover who we are, what we want in life, what our expectations are, what energizes and empowers us and many more. Singles view being alone as not to prepare for relationship, but to learn how to appreciates themselves, to live life to the fullest when they get to know what they truely want in life. While learning how to care and love themselves, they need not someone else to fill the void within their souls.

With increasing rate of divorce cases, delayed marriages, female independence, more people will find themselves single. So, why not make the most out of it? View it positively and singles’ life can be as enriching or more enriching than attached people!
