Personally, I feel that singlehood does not necessarily mean freedom.
Most of those who choose to remain single, be it a male or a female, could be because they want to concentrate on their career. These individuals believes that their work agendas are far more important, and that they would rather spend more time on working and making money, than to start a family of their own. Contrastingly, staying single too have its benefits. Staying single means that one does not have "family burdens" such as spouses conflicts, ways of disciplining child, and perhaps also high daily expense.
Though the above saying may be kind of valid; However, on the other hand, staying single can have its disadvantages too! These individuals have to work their hearts out day and night long. Just trying their very best to make as much money as possible, and also to crave out their own successful career. Most importantly, thats their only commitment; perhaps, their only goal in life so to speak. Now imagine this, if you were to be a 40 years-old man, not married, your parents, relatives and friends, starts pestering you about when you are getting married. How would that feel? At that point of time, you may be rich, but may no longer have the looks. How on Earth are you going to find a wife? In short, this is also known as family/peer pressure.
Pressure can come from any and everywhere. Be it from work or from your family. When you are single, often cropped up with work and projects, every time when you wish to just chill out and divert your attentions elsewhere, neither do you have a loved one nor a family of your own, no one to share your troubles with, lonely right? Pretty "free" indeed.
In conclusion, singlehood does not proves the state of "freedom". Instead, it has its own consequences, and sufferings.
