BLESS or CURSE about homosexuality

homosexuality can be viewed as a curse or a blessing
based on different points on views.
so it is very difficult to confirm it as a curse or a blessing
as homosexuality can be affected by the
kind of society we live in.
For example, society in America can accept homosexuality
but the countries in the middle east will not condone such practices.

in the generally consevative society of singapore it can be said that
most people do not accept such practices in public or private
because of reasons like moral values and religions
Based on religions , most religions in singapore do not support this
act of homosexuality
Also, with a conservative way of thinking, most people are more traditional and also do not agree to homosexuality.
Therefore, when penal code 377A was repealed, these people do not want homosexuality to be widespread. This suggests about the large amount of signatures gathered to keep 377A.
However, there are some people who are more open-minded about the topic of homosexuality in our country.
Some also support the repeal of 377A as they see greater opportunities to boost the economy and their buisnesses .
these people contribute to the repeal of 377A.

In my opinion, i am neutral about the topic of homosexuality as i do not condemn or encourage this act.
i have my reasons for having this stand.
Firstly, based on economical circumstances, it will be better to be more open to homosexuality as now with globalization ,Singapore cannot depend on its own for survival, so it will be recommended to be more receptive to the concept of homosexuality, so as to keep up not not lose out to others.
Secondly as mentioned in Qi wei's blog more youths are more amenable to homosexuality, the partial reason being that youths are now more exposed to the world than the other adults who keep a traditional mindset.
As youths have more chances to go abroad for immersion or edcational trips,
they can see for themselves the idea of a country that can open up to homosexuality. Also more of them go overseas to university to study
so they come back to singpore with a open minset and not one that has prejudice towards homosexality.
Thirdly, i think that homosexuality is another way of lifestyle that is not extensive in Singapore. so many people will tend to shun or condemn it. From my point of view, i think that we should not discriminate what others do.
some examples are , we do not discriminate against those that are handicapped or those who are poor or those who have different religions.
So why can't we accept homosexuality in our society.
i'm sure that we do not want people staring at you in an awkward manner when you are handicapped or people looking down on you when you are poor or even being insulted by other religions.
So homosexuals as human beings have feelings and do not want to be shuned out from the society or treated differently. Also there is a saying "love is blind" , so it is not their fault that they are homosexuals. it can't be helped.
therefore i do not condemn or encourage homosexuality.

A scenario :
1. when your best friend told you that he/she is a homosexual.
what will you do ?
-fall out with him/her
-condemn her/him
-continue to be friends but not as close as before
-gossip about him/her.
All the options have a negative impact to your relationship and it might also severly impact on your best friend's feelings.
have you ever thought how much that friend trusted you to tell you their secret,
hoping that you might accept it or not spread it to others.
these options may come into your mind on a conservative society.
