Homosexuality is define as sexual orientation to persons of the same sex, in another words a homosexual person is called gays or lesbians.
In Singapore the issue about homosexuality is getting many citizens attention, after the repeal on 377A last year. In my point of view i think that homosexuality is a curse more than a blessing. It is morally wrong as homosexuality in considered a sin in many religious context. Also, the repeal on 377A had raised a great commotion on this topic, and this shows that Sngapore is not ready to accept homosexuality. As shown in the result of the repeal of 377A, only 4,618 signatures supported on the repeal of the gay law and 15,742 signatures to keep this law. From this evidence we can see that majority of the Singaporeans still cannot accept homosexuality. If the government is going to accept homosexuality now, this will really bring alot of society and the country as many Singaporeans have a very mindset. For example, parents in Singapore want their children to grow up in a traditional environment that espouses healthy and whole traditional values and do not want homosexuality to modify the core family values.(abstrated form an open letter to the prime minister on the retention of 377A)
Another reason why homosexuality is a curse, is that homosexuality leads to low birth rate. As we all know that Singapore is facing an aging population, thus it is important to increase the birthrate to counter this problem. Singapore's population is also very small, which resulted in the lack of talents here, therefore being unable to attract foreign investors to Singapore which will affect the economy. Hence there is a need to increase the birthrate in Singapore to maintain the economic growth. Thus through this it is clear that homosexuality is a curse. If there is an increase, there will surely be a decrease in birthrate and thus it is not a blessing to the country but a curse.
On the issue on discrimination, i think that Singapore as a whole is not discriminating homosexuals. For example, Singapore allows the Nation Party to be celebrated in Sentosa. This shows that the government still respect the homosexuals by allowing the homosexual to be celebrated. However Singapore still cannot accept homosexuality totally as Singapore is still not ready to do so.
In conclusion I really do find homosexuality a curse as it feel that it will bring many negative consequences to a country, for example the moral values being shacken and the birthrate of Singapore. However it is really up to one's perspective on how they view homosexuality.
