Homosexuality can be defined as sexually attracted only to people of the same sex as oneself. Whether it is viewed as a curse or a blessing, it is depended on different points of views. Therefore it is very hard to confirm that it is either a curse or blessing. Some countries accept homosexuals practice behavior in their country while other countries do not accept it. So those countries which do not accept it enforced laws to prevent peoples to engage in such a practice. One example of those countries will be Singapore. In Singapore, section 377A of the penal code is one law which criminalizes sex between mutually consenting adult men. As taken from Wikipedia, it states that any male person who, in public or private, commits, or abets the commission of, or procures or attempts to procure the commission by any male person of, any act of gross indecency with another male person, shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 2 years. Therefore, this shows that there are some countries that really condemn the practice of homosexual behavior.
For me, I think that homosexuality is both a curse and blessing. Homosexuality, being seen as a curse, can be shown from the laws enforced by various countries, stated above. Government who discourage the practice can be due to various reasons. One of them will be there will not be a decrease in the population of a country due to the discouraging of homosexual behavior. With more birthrates, there will be more people in the workforce in the future. Therefore it will help in the economy in the future. Another reason is that there will be a decrease in HIV (Human immunodeficiency virus) and STD (sexually transmitted disease). This because homosexual behavior is one of the ways for transmitting the diseases. Social also do not regard homosexuality as they find it an abnormal behavior. According to a survey on repelling of 377A, 11.6% of them agree to it, this show that majority of the people still don’t accept them. Parents think that this behavior cannot continue family lines as homosexual couple will not have any children. Homosexuality is also not regard by all religious. Homosexuality can also see as a blessing, as the homosexuals are able to find their partner of their own likings, so they will be happy.
Overall, whether it is a curse or a blessing, it is based on ones opinion. This is also depending on how one view it, whether they accept them a not.
