First of all, I would like to make it clear that singlehood=unmarried. Singlehood is not the same as having no love partners. In short, a couple may be in love but as long as they do not get married, they are still singles. The talk about singlehood has been going on for years. In the past, young girls are married to their husband due to their parents deciding that she should marry him when she grows older. Now, women at the age of 30 are still taking it slow. They are no longer as concerned about getting married as before. Who knows, maybe in year 2100, not much people would give a hoot about getting married. This brings us to our topic about SINGLEHOOT.
Over the years, views and opinions on marriage have changed. This is also the reason why more and more people prefer to be single these days. In the past, women were much dependent on men. They grow up just to marry a man and let him take care of her for the rest of her life. But now, times have changed. Despite the fact that we know women still need us (the men), women just keep thinking they are able to depend on themselves. Which is true, only to a small extent. Anyway, the point is that marriage is no longer 'compulsory' for a woman to survive. Therefore, some women would prefer to be single and depend on herself then on a man. Another reason for people wanting to be single is due to the mass media. It is very common to have drama series with storylines about couples divorcing due to numerous conflicts. This had somehow impacted the viewers such that they feel that marriage might not be just a sweet 'I do I do" thing.
However, singlehood is definitely neither perfectly good nor is it horrendously bad thing. There are pros and cons in being single.
It is ineveitable to face family burden when you are married and with children. Family burdens include frustration in taking care of children and also having to work non-stop in order to earn more money to feed the extra mouths. By being single, there are no family burden or not as much stress. You do not have to fret daily for trying to give the best for your child and spouse. Along with singlehood comes freedom. Without a spouse, you are free to do what you like as you do not have to perform a duty of a parent and a spouse. Singles enjoy the fact that their cost of living is much cheaper alone than that of a family. They find joy in being able to spend what they earned on themselves instead of others. Also, there are no restrictions when you are single. Singles can still lead a love life and enjoy the courtship even though both of them have no intention to get married. But of cost, there are opportunity costs in which you have to bear for choosing singlehood.
By being a single, you are unable to find the joy of raising a family and giving the best to them. Parents all have a target in their mind, and that is to see their child grow up happily and be successful. That target is like a special force that pushes them to work hard daily. Just a small hug from their child when they come home makes them feel that its all worthwhile. A single will never be unable to understand the love a married couple have for their family. Without that love, it is unsurprising that singles somehow feel that they are incomplete and that they have nothing much to look forward.
In conclusion, their is a bad and good side of everything. Marriage may seem to be a heavy burden but for most people, its is worthwhile. We cannot stop people from being single, neither does being single make you unhappy. So my point of view is that whether a person wants to be a single or become married is up to his or her own decision. As long as he enjoys the freedom, singlehood would definitely make him a happier man.
