Homosexuality is defined by affection arising between two parties of the same gender, which results in a sexual orientation different to that of heterosexuality. As to whether it is a blessing or curse, it depends a lot on which perspectives people view this issue from. In this radical society, there are bound to be places where homosexuality is viewed as a ubiquitous practice. However, some places view homosexuality as a taboo and stigmatize it, to the extent of criminalising it.
I would like to opine that in my perspective, homosexuality is a both a blessing and acurse. Homosexuality, as a curse, can be manifested in the fact that in countries, many people view homosexuality as a taboo, and there are stringently enforced laws that forbid sexual acts between two parties of the same gender. Countries which practice this culture includes Singapore. Homosexuality, being condemned, can be seen from the example of Singapore, which is a paragon of people's attitude towards homosexuality. Of the people who are involved in the signing of a petition which pertains to whether the penal code 377A should be rescinded, or whether it should remain status quo, only a mere 9,000 people mooted for it to be rescinded, while the majority vetoed, and quashed this suggestion. In my opinion, this is the optimal action. Homosexuality, if depicted in a media network which is pervasive, can corrupt public morals, and disrupt the harmony of the world. According to religious and moral values, homosexuality is a taboo. If not treated appropriately, this issue can bring about social problems as homosexuals gather to protest against the seemingly discriminating behaviour against them. I feel that they can be reformed by undergoing counselling to straighten their sexual orientation.
However, homosexuality can also be a blessing, especially for those involved deeply, such as homosexuals themselves and also families of homosexuals. Homosexuals might find their happiness in each other, and families can also accomodate this behaviour by relenting and relaxing the grip on these homosexuals. So, if homosexuals can find their happiness in each other, and the world can try to accomodate them, everyone will be happy. So why not try to accomodate them instead of viewing them with a jaundice eye. For starters, the word "gay" should be scrapped, as it possess a derogatory, and pejorative value which I find extremely demeaning to homosexuals.
To conclude, every social issue has its both sides, like a coin, and only by truly probing into the depths of the issue then can you judge for yourself whether each issue is a blessing, or a taboo
